OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of the National Lutheran Hispanic Mission Society is to support and encourage Hispanic Ministry in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

The Hispanic Mission Society sponsors the National Hispanic Convention as well as provides scholarships to students preparing to serve the Hispanic Ministry of the LCMS at our Concordia Seminaries and Universities

GENERAL ASSEMBLY NOTES...
The General Assembly meeting on Tuesday July 18th provided an opportunity for the members of the Hispanic Mission Society to discuss mission challenges and opportunities among Hispanics in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

The annual financial report was provided by the Treasurer. This report reflected the involvement of the Mission Society with the planning of the II National Hispanic Convention and the present contribution commitments by its members.

Rev. John Durkovic, Chairman of the Dr. Melendez Scholarship Fund, presented the names of 3 students awarded scholarships to attend LCMS universities and seminaries. These are full time students preparing for full time ministry among Hispanics. See Scholarships for details.

A motion was made an approved by the assembly to purchase copies of the book  Feed My Sheep by Michael Doyle. These books are to be send to the libraries of all LCMS universities and seminaries. Feed My Sheep chronicles the history of Hispanic Missions in the Pacific Southwest District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.

During the assembly,  elections for President and Secretary of the Mission Society were held. Dr. Robert F. Gonzalez  and Rev. Samuel Gomez were elected as President and Secretary for a 2 year term.

During the General Assembly meeting in 2007, there will be elections for Vice-President, Treasurer and a Member at Large.
